Cotillions is the third solo album by American musician and The Smashing Pumpkins vocalist Billy Corgan (under the name William Patrick Corgan).[1] It was released on November 22, 2019.[2] The songs on the album were written in 2017 during Thirty Days – a month-long journey Corgan took across America.[3] There was enough material to allow for a 17-track double album.[4] Corgan has said this album is a "true labor of love" in an Instagram post about Cotillions, expressing his gratitude towards his fans, while also being grateful of living in a "different world", where "an artist can speak directly to you without the filter of mass media shaping your heart and opinions before you've even had a chance to decide whether this music speaks to you."[5]

Leading up to the album's release, Corgan toured Europe in June–July of 2019 playing Cotillions songs (between dates of The Smashing Pumpkins' European tour), followed by his own US tour in November, ending just two days before the release of the album.

The album received generally favorable reviews, with Clash Music calling it a "fascinating concoction",[6] and AllMusic commenting it keeps the "music and emotions direct but also relaxed, and that rigorous stylistic aesthetic makes Cotillions one of his better solo albums."[7] It peaked at #54 on the US Billboard Top Current Albums chart.[8]
