Album of the week
TheFutureEmbrace is the debut solo album by Billy Corgan. With shoegaze and electronic elements, it deviated from most of his previous work with The Smashing Pumpkins. Arrangements followed an unusual process of splitting melodies based on their pitch and programming synths around them. The album featured guests Emilie Autumn, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, and Robert Smith of The Cure who sang on the Bee Gees cover "ToLoveSomebody". The album garnered positive critical attention, with the Alternative Press calling it "some of the most engaging music of his career".
Song of the day
"G.L.O.W." is a single by The Smashing Pumpkins that premiered on Chicago alternative rock station Q101 on September 29, 2008. It was the last song to feature drummer Jimmy Chamberlin until he rejoined the band in 2018. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Billy Corgan stated that, with American Gothic and "G.L.O.W.", the band "finally turned the corner... where it’s starting to feel like our music again, and not theirs, whoever 'they' might be," referring to the band's choice to release without a record label. The song peaked at #11 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart.

- The Smashing Pumpkins officially announce their collaboration with Few Spirits for a SP-branded bourbon whiskey made from Madame ZuZu's Midnight Rose tea. The product had been available for some time but was not publicly advertised.
