Live at Kawasaki 2.24.92 is a live album by The Smashing Pumpkins documenting the February 24, 1992 show in Kawasaki, Japan. This was the first installment of the archival series.[1] It shipped as a purple swirled double LP on 180 gram vinyl, with limited quantities signed by Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin. The unreleased audio was sourced directly from the soundboard. The Blue Öyster Cult cover "Godzilla" was cut from the release, likely for licensing issues.
During the Gish-aversary event on May 29, 2021, Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin announced Live at Kawasaki (then known as Live in Japan – 1992), which later went on sale exclusively through the Madame ZuZu's website for 24 hours. Due to a worldwide shortage in vinyl manufacturing, units did not ship until late March 2022, making it the second archival release by shipment date, but first to be announced. Live at the Viper Room 1.15.98 was announced later and manufactured at a different plant and shipped in December 2021.[2] In November 2023, the album became the first archive release to be offered on compact disc.
In November 2023, Live at Kawasaki was re-released as Madame ZuZu's first ever archive CD, and limited to 500 copies worldwide.
