The November 11, 2023 performance by The Smashing Pumpkins was a live recording for Disney's The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration that aired on November 25 on ABC at 8:00 PM Central Time. Sierra Swan filled in for Jack Bates who wasn't able to attend.[1]
Having aired on national television, the show confused some casual fans who weren't familiar with The Smashing Pumpkins and Billy Corgan's long history with Disney.[2] Noting the band couldn't play just "any weird old Smashing Pumpkins song", Corgan elaborated on his affinity for Disney: "I work in the world of professional wrestling, and when you’re a big fan of professional wrestling, they call you a mark. So I’m a Disney mark. I collect old Disneyland items. I have stuff from back on the opening day in 1955. So when they called me to come play Disney, I’m like, whatever you need."[2]

Derek Hough: Give it up for the Smashing Pumpkins! Wow! How you doin', man, oh my gosh, now listen, it is so great seeing you perform here at Walt Disney World for the holidays, how long has this been on your holiday wishlist?
BC: Well, I'm 56 years old, so it would be about 55 years.
(crowd laughs)
Hough: Wait, so you're a big fan of Disney then?
BC: Yes, I love Disneyland, Disney World, anything Disney, I'm all about it.
Derek Hough: Well, what's your favorite thing about the holidays here at Walt Disney World would you say?
BC: It's just magical, you know, it really gets me in the spirit and uh, these wonderful people being here with us really captures the spirit of Christmas.
(crowd cheers)
Hough: I mean...it really does. Billy, well, I got to tell you, I can't wait to see you all back here at Walt Disney World on Christmas Day and Christmas morning to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Disney parks' Magical Christmas Day Parade right here on ABC.
