The Arising! tour was a nine-date tour of small U.S. clubs played while The Smashing Pumpkins took a break from recording Machina/The Machines of God. Fittingly, the tour debuted numerous Machina-era songs. Shows largely had the same setlist, opening with "I Am One" and ending with "Today" in the first set, with three encores usually concluding with "Geek U.S.A." By now drummer Jimmy Chamberlin was back with the band full-time, but The Arising! tour would end up being the final dates with all four original members. At its conclusion, bassist D'arcy Wretzky decided to leave the band with intentions of pursuing an acting career.
