May 24, 2012 was the first show of The Smashing Pumpkins' Oceania tour, taking place at the Sala Arena in Madrid with a capacity of about 1,500 people. It was announced four days prior on the band's Facebook page as the "Not So Secret Show". The band was originally booked for the Rock Coast Festival in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on this date, but the festival was cancelled. Likewise the setlist included mainly festival-like material, and is identical to the setlist for the Rock in Rio festival which the band appeared at just two days later.

The show saw the debut performances of "Tonite Reprise", David Bowie's "Space Oddity", Kiss' "Black Diamond" (co-sung by drummer Mike Byrne), and the first "X.Y.U." since March 12, 2000.
