Peter Hook (né Woodhead; 13 February 1956) is an English singer, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. He is best known as the bassist and co-founder of English rock bands Joy Division and New Order (whom The Smashing Pumpkins have done several covers of, such as "Isolation", "Transmission" and "Love Will Tear Us Apart"). Hook's son, Jack Bates, is the current touring bassist for The Smashing Pumpkins.

In 2001, Billy Corgan guested guitar alongside with Hook for several shows during New Order's summer tour. Hook also made a guest appearance at the 30th Anniversary show in August 2018.
