The Summer 1996 Soundworks sessions in Chicago were the sessions for the Lost Highway soundtrack. Billy Corgan actually recorded two songs for the film. The first was an early version of "Tear", which was rejected. Overdubs to the March Charing Cross sessions in Australia were probably also done around this time.

"Eye" as we hear it today was recorded in a single day and solely by Corgan, as all other band members were on vacation at the time. Engineer Tommy Lipnick was the only other person in the room during this recording. Corgan has playfully blamed the electronic direction of the song, subsequent Adore album, and 2020's CYR on Lipnick.[1]
