BC: Thank you! Thank you very much, thank you. Hey. What’s up? How y’all feelin’ tonight, you seem in a good mood. Thank you, it helps, it makes us feel good, thank you so much. I’m very happy to see a lot of young faces in the crowd, thank you very much for coming, young people. You old people are cool too, thank you. You know, Jeff, there should be more old people here.
Jeff: Oh, right.
BC: You know that, right?
Jeff: Yeah, that guy back there, the brown shirt.
BC: Heh heh, heh heh heh heh, yeah. Well, I’ll tell you one thing: me personally, I’m not stuck in the fuckin’ past. I’m not stuck in the past, I like playing some of my old songs but I am not a slave to them. That’s right. I started this band in 1987. You were like, what, two?
Jeff: No, I’m older than that, I was like 13.
BC: Alright, cool. (to Mike) How old were you in 1987? Huh? You wasn’t born yet [sic]? Holy shit, heh heh. Like I said, we’re not livin’ in the past up here. And the reason you don’t see more old faces here is ‘cause they’re livin’ in the fuckin’ past. Isn’t it ironic that a generation, Generation X, that represented a music revolution, an alternative music revolution, is scared of the fuckin’ present? ‘Cause they’re livin’ in the fuckin’ past. That whole thing wasn’t because we were livin’ in a past, you know what I’m saying? We were livin’ in the present, very much so, very much so. And thank you to those of you who are still with us, thank you very much. I’m not into the oldies act, man, not into it, not into it. Hope you aren’t either. Here’s an old song, ha! Just kidding. This is a new one you won’t listen to either.
How Many More Times (tease - Jeff is quietly playing while Billy talks)
BC: Just givin’ you some shit, you fuckin’ bogans. I got my girl back there, there she is, there she is, hiding. Hiding. She’s the one who told me all about bogans. She said there’s no bogans in Brisbane though. (crowd boos) That’s what she said! Far be it from me to argue with a woman’s opinion. Dangerous territory, Jeff. That’s dangerous territory. I love you, Jess, glad you’re here with us. It’s okay, she doesn’t love me, it’s all good. The good news is because she doesn’t love me, you’re gonna get a whole batch of new sad songs and we know you like the sad songs better than the happy ones, so um...yeah. Good sad songs. Anyway, like to play a new...sad song. Don’t cry, it’s okay. A song called Spangled.
