Live In Chicago is a promotional live album by The Smashing Pumpkins. It documents the Mellon Collie record release show, which was broadcasted live at the Riviera Theater in Chicago on October 23, 1995. It was released through Delabel, which was the French division of Hut Records. The CD was packaged as a companion piece with some French pressings of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.[1] Bootlegs exist of the entire performance, such as Live At The Riviera.
The concert was held at the Riviera Theater in Chicago, originally part of a live FM broadcast across the United States to most alternative rock stations of the time, to promote Mellon Collie which was released the following day. A power failure occurred during the beginning of "Zero", the third song played, forcing the band to stop. After a brief delay, the band retook the stage and restarted the song, continuing into the rest of the set. The encore featured three Cheap Trick songs performed with the band, who were also the show's supporting act.
