Banter[edit | edit source]

Rock On / Rock With You
> The Sacred and Profane
> Bullet with Butterfly Wings
Once Upon a Time
BC: Thank you, thank you.
Stand Inside Your Love
BC: Sorry.
Iha: Are we ready to rock? No, not yet. How you doin’? How is everybody doing out there? Are you still rocking tonight? Alright, we have a small technical rock problem and we shall be momentarily rocking. But uh, we appreciate you all sticking out and rocking with us for the rocking night.
How Many More Times (tease - Melissa)
Iha: Does anybody wanna hear Zeppelin? Come on! Alriiiiiiiiiiight! Yeah, it’s the best song on the best fuckin’ Zeppelin record! And cool riff. Ms. Melissa Auf der Maur on the bass. Kick it in!! No, I really enjoy Canada [unintelligible] (tease ends) and uh, I like socialism. Alright.
BC: I’m very impotent.
Iha: Melissa, do you have any childhood Canadian stories for these people? It’s on.
Melissa: Ho. Other than being extremely proud to be Canadian and to be doing the last tour of Canada with this fine musical act, I'm very proud for two good reasons: the band and the country that I'm in. What can I say? James, we might have to do an ‘80s cover song right now.
Iha: Oh.
Melissa: Oh no we don't, we can play the real - the real ‘90s stuff. As for Ottawa in the fine capital of this fine country, I was here this time last year, I hope you were all here too. This band wasn't here and Our Lady Peace weren't here and the Foo Fighters weren't here and all the other wonderful acts today were not here but I was and you were too. Oh no, no music, just Canada chat.
Iha: Should we do our fine duet, Melissa? Jimmy?
Theme from Great White North (tease - Melissa sings)
Melissa: If any of you are too young to not recognize that, you better go to a record store or a video store and get all the Bob and Doug McKenzie's home entertainment! Thank you all, you already know. ... We have half the power that we usually have, it's very embarrassing.
Iha: Alright, let's uh, let's do something.
Melissa: Uh, any questions, now that we're here? Uh....
BC: I guess now would be a good time to tell everyone I'm a fag.
Melissa: He's coming out of the closet today in Ottawa.
BC: An angry fag.
Melissa: Oh yes. I have witnessed this angry homosexual play much louder guitar than right now. ... Since I've been in this band, I've never experienced anything like this, it's a very professional act. It's usually very together. It must be a joke.
Iha: Yes. You wanna tell them about your formative years here, Melissa?
Melissa: I was across the border in Quebec. Bonsoir va l’Francais si. [a few unintelligible French words] hello. [Another French sentence.] What now? No.
Iha: Well.
BC: Wanna just do Fuck You without me playing guitar?
Melissa: Oh, lead singer.
BC: I’ll just be a lead singer.
Melissa: I don’t know if we can....
BC: Let's see what you got, Iha.
Fuck You
BC: I love you too. I can do this one.
Mayonaise
BC: Thank you.
Iha: Alright.
(Jimmy starts drums)
Melissa: Now it's time for ‘80s, fuck the ‘90s.
Don't You Want Me
Melissa: Here to [unintelligible].
I of the Mourning
BC: Thank you. ... Hahaha. Yes.
Iha: We're having a red letter day tonight.
BC: A red letter day tonight?
Iha: Yes.
BC: It's a full moon, James, you know what that means.
Iha: What does that mean?
BC: It means the feral, animal side of you is being magnetically drawn to the moon.
Iha: Ah yes, it means that guitars don't work either. Alright.
BC: That one was my fault, sorry. We're gonna do a little campfire singalong since we don't have electric guitars. Please feel free to sing along by the light of the moon.
Today (acoustic)
Iha: Alright. That was from 1994, what a song.
BC: Back to C, James. Thank you. Well, we only have a little bit of time left because of all these problems, so before we play our last heavy metal bit here, wanna say thank you for sticking around to the end here to see us play. Yes. To all the fans of Pumpkins, god bless you. Ten great years, thank you. So we'll play a couple more heavy metal songs here and say goodbye, so thank you, have a good night. Hahaha, oops, hold on.
Heavy Metal Machine
> The Everlasting Gaze
BC: Thank you very much, thank you.
