May 2, 1996 was the broadcast date of The Smashing Pumpkins' appearance on the Top of the Pops program. The actual recording date of this performance is unknown.
Presumably due to insistence from the show's producers, the band acted out playing to a pre-recorded track, with only Billy Corgan singing live. Amusingly, D'arcy Wretzky can be seen playing a Gibson Flying V guitar, while touring keyboardist Jonathan Melvoin uses drum mallets to act out his playing of the keyboards.[1]
