March 22 was the start of the 2016 leg of the In Plainsong tour, billed as "An Acoustic-Electro Evening". The lineup included Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, Jeff Schroeder, Katie Cole, and Sierra Swan. It was Swan's first show with The Smashing Pumpkins, who provided background vocals and keyboards. The performance took place at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, Oregon to a capacity of 2,776 fans, with Liz Phair serving as the opening act.

The setlist saw a host of unique live debuts, including "Whir", "Saturnine", "Identify", "Amarinthe", "The Spaniards", Hole's "Malibu" and The Rolling Stones' "Angie". It also saw the first performances of "Jesus, I" and "Mary Star of the Sea" since Zwan disbanded, the first "Sorrows (In Blue)" since Corgan's TheFutureEmbrace tour, and the first "Lily (My One and Only)" since 2008. The VIP pre-set (Corgan solo only) may have featured "Red Dirt" (known to some fans as "Bless Me"), which would also be a live debut. "Stand Inside Your Love" was performed as a duet between Katie Cole and Corgan, and "Malibu" sang solely by Cole, as would be the case for the remainder of the tour.
