May 22, 2007 was the debut show of the newly reformed Smashing Pumpkins, including new guitarist Jeff Schroeder, bassist Ginger Pooley and touring keyboardist Lisa Harriton. The show took place at the Le Grand Rex in Paris to a crowd of about 2,800 people. It was the first of the 14-date European leg of the Zeitgeist tour, after which the band returned home to the US to perform the Orange Peel and Fillmore residencies.

The show saw the live debuts of "United States", "Bleeding the Orchid", "Doomsday Clock", "Starz", "Tarantula", "For God and Country", "Gossamer", "Winterlong", "Neverlost", "That's the Way (My Love Is)" and "Untitled".

The banter was somewhat quiet compared to most Pumpkins shows. After "Gossamer", Billy Corgan thanked the crowd and said "We are The Smashing Pumpkins. You should be very afraid. Very afraid. Not of The Smashing Pumpkins. The Smashing Pumpkins are your friends. If you need a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, some Euros if you can’t pay your rent... The Smashing Pumpkins."
