Before becoming 9:30 Club, the same building was known as the WUST Music Hall under different management, which the Pumpkins performed at twice during a two-night run on November 20–21, 1993.
9:30 Club also hosted the Zeitgeist record release party on July 10, 2007, which was depicted in the If All Goes Wrong documentary. In 2018, 9:30 Club was named one of the 10 best live music venues in America by Rolling Stone.

In the banter, Corgan joked, "We'd like to comment, this is a pretty cool place, as opposed to the place it used to be," to which Iha replied "I admit, in a past life I was running down the old 9:30 street and I had shot Abraham Lincoln."
