Screamer released October 18, 2019! It is an album by Third Eye Blind featuring the song "Light It Up", which was co-written by Billy Corgan. Corgan is also credited as the "musical consigliere" (advisor) for the album.
In an interview with The Cornwall Seeker, Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins told of his experience working with Corgan: "We saw each other backstage at the Forum at the KROQ Christmas show. We had a good chat, and he invited me over to play some of my songs for him, so I did. He went over it and really helped with the arrangements. It was very cool. The most important song he worked on with us was 'Light it Up' where he wrote part of it, and it was nice. He worked on other songs too, like 'Who Am I'."
Exclaim! rated the album 8 out 10 stars, highlighting "Light Me Up" as applying an "alt-rock grind" to "the proggy post-rock power ballad with excellent results." Vinyl Chapters meanwhile considered the song the "true ballad of the album" that is "sure to be on future set lists for a much-needed singalong."
Screamer peaked at #4 on the US Independent Albums chart and at #18 on the Top Album Sales chart.
