SPCodex:Social media/MySpace Smashing Pumpkins Tribute
This page defines the social media posts for MySpace Smashing Pumpkins Tribute.
This post is scheduled to deliver on July 22 at 18:00 UTC.
NOTE: The structure must follow the guide at SPCodex:Social media exactly for the automated posts to work.
Artists featured include The Academy Is ("Mayonaise"), Panic! At The Disco ("Tonight, Tonight"), Ben Kweller ("Today"), among others. Most notably however was the track "Signal to Noise" – a song that Billy Corgan gave to Matt Walker and his band, Most Dangerous Race. This song was an outtake from the Zeitgeist sessions. A rough studio demo by The Smashing Pumpkins reportedly exists and is in Walker's possession, but has yet to surface.
Matt Walker wrote: "Having had the unique perspective of playing in the band for two and a half years, I know firsthand what an amazing band the Smashing Pumpkins are. I think their scope has still yet to be fully appreciated. It is nearly non-existent for a band to be that successful and at the same time be so artistically challenging and uncompromising in their vision. I have been given a great opportunity to record a new song written for, but not included on, Zeitgeist. It is an honor as a friend and a fan to contribute to this MySpace compilation."
