The documentary covers Billy Corgan's attempts to write and debut new music at the residencies, as well as the revival of the band with new members. Much of it deals with the struggle to remain relevant as a band, both artistically and commercially.
The documentary was released as part of a two-disc DVD set with artwork by @lindastrawberry. The 1st disc contains the documentary, as well as Voices of the Ghost Children, a featurette about the band's fans, and an interview with The Who's Pete Townshend. The 2nd disc contains 15 songs recorded at various points during the residency, all mixed in surround sound with 5 songs recorded during rehearsals on the floor of the venue.
In 2009 the DVD won Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing at the Cinema Audio Society awards.
In an IG Q&A, Corgan wrote that: "Simply put, I think Jimmy Chamberlin and I thought we'd pick up where we'd left off with Machina, playing long, aggressive and creative shows that challenged us and the audience. Unfortunately the audiences didn't get that memo, and just wanted (by and large, not all) the 'hits'."
If All Goes Wrong peaked at #4 on the Billboard Top Music Video chart in 2008, and is certified Platinum in Canada.
