Get Ready by New Order released August 27, 2001! The track "Turn My Way" features contributing vocals from Billy Corgan. Earlier in 2001, Corgan performed as a touring guitarist at select New Order shows. It was the first appearance of Corgan following The Smashing Pumpkins' 2000 breakup.

Corgan's involvement materialized from his long-standing friendship with Peter Hook. "I first met him when he was 15 and thinking of forming a band," said Hook. "He was a big fan of Joy Division and New Order, and he came to dinner with us one day as a friend of the promoter." Hook's son, Jack Bates, is the touring bassist for The Smashing Pumpkins.

Corgan's influence is evident on "Turn My Way", which begins with Pumpkin-esque noise and Corgan's voice, taking the song into American rock territory. The track "Rock the Shack" was co-produced by Flood, who had worked extensively with The Smashing Pumpkins since 1995's Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

Get Ready received generally positive reviews from music critics. David Browne of Entertainment Weekly opined that New Order have "never sounded stronger or more vigorous", calling Get Ready "a stunning and confident return to form". Robert Christgau of The Village Voice deemed it the band's best album "in 15 years", while AllMusic critic John Bush described the record as "their first work in 15 years that's focused on songwriting and performance rather than grafted dance techniques." Q listed Get Ready as one of the best 50 albums of 2001.

Get Ready peaked in the top 20 on at least a dozen national charts, and placed at #41 on the US Billboard 200. It also made the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums year-end charts for both 2001 (#8) and 2002 (#25). The album is certified Gold in France and the United Kingdom.
