Love Supreme Collective is the debut EP from Frank Catalano and Jimmy Chamberlin, released on July 29, 2014 through Ropeadope Records. Upon release, it became the #1 selling jazz album on the American iTunes store.[1]
Background[edit | edit source]
In April 2011, Catalano suffered serious injuries in a car accident when he was hit by a drunk driver. He has said John Coltrane's 1965 album A Love Supreme was the spiritual anchor during his recovery and wanted to create an album that symbolizes these emotions.
For this project, Chamberlin enlisted his keyboardist from Jimmy Chamberlin Complex, Adam Benjamin, while Catalano recruited Percy Jones of Brand X to play bass, and Chris Poland of Megadeth to play guitar.
“ | I had the opportunity to experiment with semi-tones and tetrachords often found in Armenian folk songs. I was able to let loose thanks to Jimmy and Percy's amazing foundation and groove. I feel sooooooooooo blessed and fortunate and I want to thank everyone who is reading these words and checking out the music! | ” |
