Notes[edit | edit source]

  • On the official release, a few lines of Billy Corgan's banter after "United States" are removed for unknown reasons (“Well yeah, we finally made it to New York, thank you. ‘Bout motherfuckin’ time, Corgan. Haha.”); in addition, Jimmy's responses to Billy during "Everything Is Beautiful" are completely inaudible, even though he can be clearly heard on the audience recording and visible speaking into a mic on video

(BC during extended outro: She’s a reeeaalll life.... She’s a reeaaall life.... Long Island Transformer. She’s makin’ it real. She’s keepin’ it cool. Ow!)
> Superchrist
> United States / Star Spangled Banner
BC: That's right. Thank you, NYC, thank you! Lemme see some people, I wanna see some people. Yeah! I don’t know why we’re 40 feet away from you but, heh heh, maybe that’s a good thing. How you doin’ up there, you alright? Yeah. People in the balcony rockin’ hard, yes. Well yeah, we finally made it to New York, thank you. ‘Bout motherfuckin’ time, Corgan. Haha. It took a while to find a venue where you were really far away, so.... That’s the way I want it. I’m sorry, I don’t speak New York. I speak Obama. (big crowd cheer) Heh heh. Ain’t no Giuliani in the White House, heh heh, O-ba-ma. We’d like to kick it down for a moment. You look tired to me. ... Heh heh. Yeah, it’s all fun and games, yes. Like to play a few songs...a heh heh heh heh heh. I guess that’s what we’re doing up here, we’re playing some songs, right?--hahaha. Heh, it just occurred to me, heh. Yeah. This song from the A-dory album. Since I’m part Sicilian, I’d like to dedicate this to the Italians in the crowd. We know you Italians like your sad songs, here’s a sad song for you.
Once Upon a Time (acoustic)
Again, Again, Again (acoustic)
Guy in crowd: Monster Mash song!
The Rose March (abandoned after 6 notes)
BC: We’re not playing Monster Mash tonight, heh heh.
The Rose March (acoustic)
BC: Thank you, thank you so much for listening, thank you, thank you, appreciate it. ... So...don’t get too excited, calm down. Haha! Don’t want you to sweat or lose your mind or anything, just relax.
Guy in crowd: Crank it up!
BC: Yeah, we’re gonna crank it up, dude, so loud. That’s right, brother, I’m gonna hit this big button right here, it’s gonna get really loud. Amazing. Just like in Guitar Hero, buddy. Haha. It’s nice to be back here in New York with you, thank you. It’s been a long time.
Guy in crowd: Too fuckin' long!
BC: “Too fuckin’ long,” this guy over here says, "Too fuckin’ long. (New York accent) Too fuckin’ long you been. Too fuckin’ long. (normal voice) Jesus H. Christ.” ... Okay. We’re now about to descend into the last part of the show, we hope you enjoy it. Heh. Believe me, you’ll enjoy it, heh heh. And if you don’t, I’m gonna have a classic meltdown right here. I read about me on the internet, I know what I’m like. Haha. Anyway, like to dedicate this song to our long, long time fans, thank you so much for being here with us.

We Only Come Out at Night
> Everything Is Beautiful / Mayonaise
BC: Ladies and gentlemen, that’s the end of our show. All good things must come to an end and even this concert must come to an end. But before we go, we’d like to say thank each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts. (sings) Everything is beautiful in its own way. Everyone is beautiful in their own way, (speaking) even those people leaving, you’re beautiful! You’re beautiful, don’t let anyone tell you different. That’s right. The Smashing Pumpkins are in a lot of businesses and first or foremost, it’s the fun business, we’re in the fun business. We've hope you’ve had fun, that’s what we’re about. Because god knows if you don’t entertain us, oh wait, if we don’t entertain you, that’s what it is, I forgot, I’m remiss in saying that. (sings) Everything is beautiful in its own way, (speaking) each and every one of you. I know I speak for Jimmy and the entire band when I say, this may have been the greatest concert we ever played! Seriously. The outpouring of love from the New York crowd always warms my cold heart. The way most of you strolled in late warmly, the way you booed at the end of the show warmly, it warms my heart. (sings) Everyone is beautiful, (speaking) yes, even when you boo, you’re beautiful. Now we all know there’s only one band like the Smashing Pumpkins and that’s - there’s a very good reason for that, heh heh. You’re wondering “What’s the reason?” (no crowd reaction) Are you wondering what’s the reason? (lukewarm crowd reaction) That doesn’t sound like wondering. (more reaction) Are you wondering what the reason is? If you don’t care, I don’t care, okay, that’s obvious. Now who’s coming to tomorrow night’s show? (fairly big crowd response) Thank you, thank you, you’re beautiful. Sometimes you just gotta stop and think, right, Jimmy?
Jimmy: Yes.
BC: Sometimes you just gotta put down the sticks and just stop and think.
Jimmy: That’s right, stop and think.
BC: There’s a lot of wondering out there, Jimmy.
Jimmy: Yes, lots of contemplation.
BC: When they’re saying to themselves...
Jimmy: What do you think they’re thinking about?
BC: ...they’re wondering who the Smashing Pumpkins are. “Who are the Smashing Pumpkins? (Lisa plays first 8 notes of Mayonaise, sped up and in wrong key) Did I pay for this shit?” That’s what they’re wondering. “Did I pay, did I actually pay my money to watch this shit?” That’s what they’re wondering.
Jimmy: I think you’re right.
BC: That’s right, that’s why there’s only one band in the world like us. That’s right. Because we love you so, we’ll torture you with our music. (double clicks tongue), think about it. “Why, Billy, why? Why can’t you just play those songs that I lost my virginity to? Why? Why?” That’s what you’re wondering, “Why?” It puts the “why” in NYC, doesn’t it?
Jimmy: (laughing) That’s right, that’s what I was gonna say.
BC: Ladies and gentlemen, we have to go now, we have to go now. See, here come those boos again. Those are the kind of boos, hold on, take it down a second. Those are the kind of boos that push the New York Yankees to the championships.
Jimmy: That’s right, straight to the playoffs.
BC: Yeah, push them right over the top. Derek Jeter hits the big home run. “Boooooo!”
Jimmy: “Boooo!”
BC: Boo. Boo, Derek, boo. Heh heh. Listen...LISTEN! It’s rock and roll, okay, we’re just fuckin’ around, okay?, it’s rock and roll...okay? Lighten up, we’re just having some fun, okay? I think we’ve earned the right to have some fuckin’ fun, okay? We spent the whole fuckin’ '90s goin’ “What? What? What?”
Jimmy: They stopped.
BC: Now the question's “Why?” Ladies and gentlemen, I don’t know what the message is...but if there is a message, it’s that you’re beautiful. (sings) Everyone is beautiful in their own way. (speaking) Give it to me! (sings) You’re the most beautiful crowd that ever booed my ass. (speaking) Yes. Just remember one thing: we’ll see you in hell, okay?, we’ll see you in hell. Hahaha, just kidding! We’ve actually enjoyed tonight’s show, I’m just jokin' around and we hope to see you tomorrow, we hope you’ve had fun. Stephen, take us outta here. (Stephen kazoo solo)
