MTV Video Music Awards 1996. The band opens the show, fittingly performing "Tonight, Tonight", backed by a 30-piece orchestra. At the conclusion of the show, the band wins Video of the Year for "Tonight, Tonight". The video also wins awards for Breakthrough Video, Best Direction in a Video, Best Special Effects in a Video, Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography in a Video. "1979" wins Best Alternative Video.
