The Aeroplane Flies High (Turns Left, Looks Right)
"The Aeroplane Flies High (Turns Left, Looks Right)" (originally entitled "Disconnected") is a song from the "Thirty-Three" single by The Smashing Pumpkins, which was bundled with the box set, The Aeroplane Flies High. The final studio version was recorded in two parts; Chamberlin's drums were recorded March 1996 in Australia while the band was on tour, and Billy Corgan finished the rest in a single day some time later after Chamerblin had left the band.[1]

“ | A brief snippet of this tune, which was originally entitled 'Disconnected,' is found in the 'Pastichio Medley.' This is a Mellon Collie riff that I could never seem to find a place for. [Producer] Flood didn't like this one much ("too heavy metal"-a common complaint), and I never finished it until right before it was recorded. Essentially a new song with an old riff, with spoken word bits courtesy of my friend. The solo, funnily enough, was quickly thrown down because I had to go to a funeral. It was supposed to be a reference for where to pick up when I came back. But when I returned, I was surprised by how much I liked it. | ” |

LyricsEdit
love is a sentimental heart
life is a sentimental way
spy the fragile heart so cursed
as he walks across this earth
i'm disconnected by your smile
disconnect a million miles
and what you promised me
i hope will set you free
i'm disconnected by your smile
and all i gave to you is lost
and all you took from me is lost
black wings carry me so high
up to meet you in the sky
i'm disconnected by your smile
disconnect a million miles
and what you promised me
i hope will set you free
i'm disconnected by your smile
wishing you were real to me
wishing i could make believe
i'll take my secrets to the grave
safely held beneath the waves
always knew i couldn't save
always knew i couldn't save you
