Iommi is the debut solo album by Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi. It features "Black Oblivion" which was co-written and sung by Billy Corgan. Corgan also played bass on the track and provided additional guitar, while former Smashing Pumpkins touring member Kenny Aronoff provided drums.
Each song on the album features an all-star guest vocalist who co-wrote the song with Iommi, with "Black Oblivion" being the sole exception of not being also being co-written by producer Bob Marlette.
Two songs were apparently written with Corgan, but as it was essentially a Black Sabbath tribute album with guest artists, only one could be used.[1] Other artists featured on Iommi include Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters and Nirvana), Henry Rollins (Black Flag and Rollins Band), among others.
Iommi peaked at number 129 on the Billboard 200 and at number 43 in Germany.
