Linda Linda Linda soundtrack released July 20, 2005! All instrumental songs are written and performed by James Iha. It was recorded at Stratosphere Sound in New York City – a studio Iha co-owned with Andy Chase, and the late Adam Schlesinger who played with Iha in Tinted Windows. Other songs featured on the album were by Paranmaum, Base Ball Bear and Yukawa Shione.
The soundtrack was for the 2005 Japanese film directed by Nobuhiro Yamashita. The film centers around a group of three high school girls in a punk rock band, with their sights set on performing at a local rock festival. They lose their lead singer, but find a replacement that gives the group the edge they need.
The Chicago Reader wrote that Iha's contributions gave the film an "energetic score," while the critic Craig Skinner wrote Iha "creates a dreamy and naive score that beautifully complements the visual aesthetics of the film."
