"Wildflower" is a song by The Smashing Pumpkins off of their 2012 studio album, Oceania. The song was written during the original Teargarden sessions with Mark Tulin of The Electric Prunes. After Tulin died in February 2011, Corgan felt compelled to revive the tune.[1]

Lyrics

Wasted along the way
I'm wasted along the way
I'm wasted along the way to reach you
Wasted along the way
I'm wasted along the way
I'm wasted along the way to reach you
Infernal ides
I trim the wick so fine
To carry forth your light
Comfort me
What will leave will leave
Comfort me to stem the tide
Wasted along the way
I'm wasted along the way
I'm wasted along the way to reach you
Wildflower in the wilderness outside
Take your chance with love and laughter
And every word I write, yeah
From that body will never learn
When it's far too gone I'd move on
Wasted along the way
Wasted along the way
I'm wasted along the way to reach you
Wasted along the way
Wasted along the way
I'm wasted along the way to reach you

Ooh wildflower, wildflower
Ooh wildflower, wildflower
Ooh wildflower, wildflower
Ooh wildflower, wildflower
Wildflower

According to Smallville writer, Bryan Q. Miller, he would have included “Wildflower” in the Smallville: Season 11 comic, “Guardian”, had the story been a live-action television episode. Specifically, he confirmed that the song would have started near the end of the ‘episode’ (actually Chapter 12 of the digital release) during a solemn scene on the Daily Planet rooftop between Lois Lane and Clark Kent.[2]
