September 17, 2021 was The Smashing Pumpkins first live performance since August 31, 2019 (the 2020 Tonight Show appearance was prerecorded). The band rehearsed at Chicago's Patio Theater for a week before the show.[1] The theater is only blocks away from where Corgan's father used to live on Eddy Street, which is where the band first formed.[2] This show was also the first where Corgan used his new Reverend signature guitar.
