Pale Scales
> The Everlasting Gaze
Heavy Metal Machine
The Crying Tree of Mercury
Tonight, Tonight
BC: Sons and daughters...heh heh heh. People of Earth, good evening. How's everybody doing, you alright?
Ava Adore
Glass and the Ghost Children / Für Elise
I Am One
(BC rant: Through the eyes we penetrate. Through the years we confiscate. Yes, we are here to take back the motherfucking rock and roll, (screams). That's right. Across the dusk of time, inside the child's mind, you will find, we leave nothing behind. This story is the same story that's been told over and over and over and over again. Attack, attack, attack, attack, attack, (screamed) destroy! Destroy. Like human atom bombs, we shall explode inside, inside your very soul. (screams) That's right, that's right, that's right, that’s right, there’s no escape. You're in here now, there's no escape, you're in here now, it's too late, there's no escape, it's very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very...it's getting late. Y2K my fuckin’ ass. The revolution is not going to be inside your motherfucking computer, it's going to be in your heart! All voices equal, all voices equal. We are the machines...)
Rock On
(BC during Iha solo: James Iha on the lead guitar.)
Zero
BC: Thank you very much, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. We'd like to thank everybody that we saw today, uh, both in Sacramento and San Jose. You guys rule. You gave us a lot of love today, we hope we gave you a little back. So uh, all the people in a lot of the other cities we're going to are saying, “Why the fuck are you playing there?” And I say, “Why the fuck not?” Heh heh, that's right. We'd now like to play you a song from our failed Adore album...and uh, hope you enjoy it, heh heh.
To Sheila
BC: Thank you very much, thank you very much. (Jimmy begins Cherub Rock drum roll) Ladies and gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen, for our last song - for our last song this evening, we would like to attempt a very dangerous, very dangerous song. We do not suggest that you try this song at home unless accompanied by a guardian, someone that can drive you to the hospital. Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you the Cherub Rock.
Cherub Rock
BC: Goodnight.
[encore break]
Iha: Hello. How are you guys doing, is it really hot out there? At this time, on drums and guitar, Mr. Jimmy Chamberlin. On geetar and lead vocals, Mr. Billy Corgan. On the bass (pronounced like the fish) guitar, Ms. Melissa Auf der Maur. And now, we go back.
1979 (acoustic, Jimmy plays guitar)
BC: Thank you all very much, we know everyone's very hot and sweaty but uh, we thank you, we thank you so much, thank you. Can you put the lights up a little bit, uh, there, G...can see everybody? Ah, there you are, there you are. We're so old that we can't see very far or hear anything anymore. Except Melissa, she's not old. She has a bright future in rock, I predict. I predict our light is diminishing fast, the three of us, heh. Too many miles there, James.
Join Together (acoustic)
BC: Thank you very much, thank you very much, thank you very much, thank you very much.
Iha: Thanks a lot.
BC: Thanks a lot, thank you.
Iha: Thanks a lot, goodnight.
[encore break]
Iha: Woo! Boo yeah, it's so fucking hot. Ow!
I of the Mourning
> Bullet with Butterfly Wings (abandoned after Billy misses the 4th line of verse 1)
BC: Ah, I just fucked up the words. Hold on, stop. I fucked up the words. That's it, that's the end of the show, I’m sorry, we can't play that song, we’re done.
We Love You (tease - first 4 notes)
BC: Alright, try it one more time, ready?
Bullet with Butterfly Wings (abandoned quickly)
BC: Wait, wait, no, no. We'll do it the old school way, hold on.
Bullet with Butterfly Wings
BC: You guys totally fuckin’ rock.
Iha: Thanks a lot.
BC: God bless you.
Iha: Thanks a lot.
BC: God bless you, thank you.
Iha: Goodnight.
[encore break]
X.Y.U.
she gave it all away
‘cause she was lazy
she was just like her mother
a fuckin’ whore

and i said
i’m gonna fill you up
i’m gonna break you
i’m gonna give you up
‘cause i’m your lover
and i’m your motherfuck
come to save you
‘cause you’re all mine!

rat tat tat

and do you love me?
and do you really care?
am i fucking crazy?
or have i just lost my hair?

and i said
i wanna fill you up
i’m gonna break you
i’m gonna suck you up
come and you break down
make you love me so
‘cause i’m your lover
(screams)

kaboom boom boom!

baby, can you hear me?
i’m knockin’ upon your door
baby, let me in you
baby, i want some more!!

yow!!

(song outro begins)

BC: Little Red Riding Hood was riding her curds of whey. She was going to grandma's house. Kerplunk, kerplook, kerplunk, kerplook. Now, grandma had warned Little Red Riding Hood of a biiiiiig bad bear. Boo. She said (high pitched voice), “Little Red Riding Hood, be careful if you go into the forest, you'll never know what you're going to find.” (normal) So, Little Red Riding Hood was riding that pony, riding that pony, riding that pony through the forest. And she came upon a fork in the road, shhh, hold on! It’s hard to tell this fuckin’ story, you metal fucks. (band stops playing) I want you to play, it’s just - not so fuckin’ loud. (Melissa resumes bass line) There you go. (Iha and Jimmy kick back in quietly) So Little Red Riding Hood came to a fork in the road...and she wasn’t sure which way to go. Little did she know that grandma's house was to the right, which would be your left..right...no, left. Anyway, but she made the wrong turn and little did Little Red Riding Hood know that she was goin’ to the big bear's house. That's right. She knocked upon that door. (to band) Goddamn, you guys are fucking loud! Hard to tell a story. (Jimmy drums louder for a moment) Now these people want to hear a story. So anyway, she knocked upon that door.... (deeper voice) Who's there? (higher pitched) “It’s Little Red Riding Hood...come to pick up her cherries. Let me in!” (deeper) “Come on in,” said the bear, “I've got something I want to show you.” (normal) And right about now, your curiosity may be getting the best of you. You’re thinking, “I stood in line like a crazy person for 14, 16 hours to get these tickets. I stole money from my parents to get these tickets. I'm hot, I’m sweaty, some guy is pressing up against me that I do not know.” And you’re thinking, “At least tell the end to the story because it would really be unfair to have gone through all this trouble to actually get out here and see the show and not know the end of the story and then find out on the internet that I told the story to some other unappreciative crowd that is not as good as you are.” Because you're like that. (bear voice) “So Little Red Riding Hood, she came into my house and I said ‘Come here, Little Red Riding Hood. Come here. I've got something I want to show to you.’ I said, ‘it's big and it's loud, it's right here. Now close your eyes, Little Red Riding Hood, close your eyes. You're gonna to get a biiiiiiiiiig surprise.’” (normal voice) Okay, shhh, here's the dramatic part. So when Little Red Riding Hood opened her eyes, what did she behold? “Eek.” What is it? It's a six foot four bald guy playing lead fucking guitar. (Billy solos, next line is over the solo) ‘Cause we all know Little Red Riding Hood cannot be satisfied. And become sweaty - hold on, that's it, these hot, sweaty people are not impressed by the end of the story. (song ends) You dirty fucking people thought I was gonna go into some sort of sexually explicit moment there. I'm very embarrassed by you. I thought that our crowds were a step above your normal, Britney Spears boob-worshipping crowds. We thought you would want the intellectual ending. Oh, you want - you want the sexual ending? Oh. Well, there is none. Okay, that's the end of the concert, thank you very much.
(crowd cheering for about a minute, until Iha plays a few quiet notes)
BC: James, what are you doing?
We Love You (tease - Iha plays first five notes quietly)
BC: I thought you were through with evil riffs, I thought you'd sworn off the evil riff. Are you sure? Are you really sure? I'm not convinced.
Iha: What do you people want? More rock and roll or...or do you want to hear, uh...I don’t know, any number of songs we could possibly play for you. I believe there is an ending to this song. What you will get out of it is so painful to us. Personally to me, it is quite a burden. So I want to hear you give a very loud noise so we can endure this gargantuan rock riff. Excellent. Thank you, thank you. That's a fine, fine first entry noise. (high pitched) Can I get another?
BC: That's not going to fly with me, that's not going to work. You're going to have to do better than that, James Iha. These people are counting on you, right about now.
Iha: Well, the jokes are old, the riffs are stale, what can I do? Heh heh.
BC: Don't you understand, these people don't want riffs, they want water.
Iha: Well, I got a couple Crystal Geysers...
BC: James, James, just let it go, just let it go. We just can't do it anymore, that's it, it’s - it’s overload. We can't go back in time, James. You're not 25 anymore. The world is no longer enthralled with grunge, it's over, give it up, buddy.
We Love You
BC: Alright, alright, everything's going to be alriiiiight. One more time, one more time, we're gonna to try and blow your mind, everything's going to be alllllllllriiiiight. Now for our last number of the evening and I truly do mean that this time, for our last number, our last number, no, this is no longer a gimmick, this is the end, this is the end, everything's going to be alright. Don't be afraid, everything's going to be alright. This song we're about to play for you really doesn't have any words. We don't really know how it goes, we just make it up as we go along. Your participation is a necessary element of this song or it'll collapse upon itself and embarrass us and you will leave feeling that you've got gypped out because we are not a professional rock band. You understand what I'm saying? Now when we get to the chorus and it will be very obvious that is the chorus, we need you to sing it back to us, that's very, very, very important and then everything's going to be allllllriiiiiight.

we’re gonna get so high
we’re gonna reach to the sky
everybody’s gonna know
you don’t fuck with us here, yeah

BC: There's nobody that knows show business like us, that's right.

across the hands of time, we blister the fragile eggshell mind
we ask jim morrison to come down and grant us some words
because i am the vampire king and i can do anything alllllriiight

do you feel alright?
do you feel alright?
do you feel alright?
yeah, do you feel alright?
do you feel alright?

we love you
we love you (there you go)
we love you
we love you

BC: Yes, as you can see, we do not know what we’re doing. It's getting very scary and I'm afraid I'm about to fail and I do not like to fail because I am will personified. That’s why my name is William! That's right, William.

we’re gonna get so high
we’re gonna reach to the sky
we’re gonna go so far
you don’t know where we are

we love you
we love you
we love you
we love you
we love you
we love you
we love you
we love you

BC: Yes, that's right, we love each and every one of you for the beautiful, human souls that you are. And for once in my life I am not bullshitting you.

we love you
we love you
we love you
we love you
we love you
we love you
we love you

we love you
we love you
we love you
we love you

we love you (many times in rapid succession)

BC: Yes. That truly is the end of the loving for you. Thank you very much for an amazing concert. Thank you for going to the trouble of showing us your love. We hope in our own commercial rock star way, we are showing you our love. Don't forget, don't forget, don't forget, in April or May, we will come back to play a big rock show. It will be the same jokes and the same songs but in a different order.

(song ends)

Iha: Ooh, baby! Alright everybody, thanks a lot. We appreciate you coming out and for staying for all the rock. You guys have been great. We shall come back.
