BC: Thanks a lot, thanks a lot, (gruff voice) Texas. How y'all doin' tonight? (normal voice) As many of you know, we're touring on our new album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and uh, it's goin' real good. How you doing up there in the balcony?, I can still see you. Oh yeah! Those are all the people that got in for free, they didn't have to pay. Heh heh. As you know, tonight is a show to benefit charity, all your money is going to charity. The Family Place.
Iha: Very nice, a nice place.
BC: So when we dedicate this song to all of you for being here with us tonight to share this evening with us and uh, we hope you uh, I don't know, we hope you just hope.
Tonight, Tonight (acoustic)
Once Upon a Time (abandoned 10 seconds in)
BC: Oh yeah, no one told you you’re not playing in this part. ... Thank you. Tonight uh...tonight tonight, uh, we’re - we’re doing something special, we don’t always do it, we’re playing all our new album Adore for you tonight. Every song. (Mike makes a quick, quiet keyboard noise) That was hilarious. This is a song I wrote in my bedroom, it’s called Once Upon a Time.
Once Upon a Time (Billy solo acoustic)
> The Tale of Dusty and Pistol Pete (acoustic)
> drum/percussion solo
> Zero (tease)
> Bullet with Butterfly Wings
> Shame
For Martha
BC: God bless you, thank you, goodnight.
[encore break]
Iha: Thank you very much, thank you very much. You guys have been great here in Texas. Now we would like to make a uh special, bleh, (laughing) special presentation.
BC (overlapping Iha’s last two words; sounds like he has his mouth full) Special presentation.
Iha: This is the charity that you gave your money to.
Charity spokeswoman: Thanks for all of y'all being here tonight, wow, this is incredible! My name is Christy and I work for The Family Place and it is such an honor to be here and to be the benefactor of this incredible concert. ... We help thousands of women - of abused women and children everyday and these are families that are living with violence in their homes and that is what The Family Place is, it's a safe haven and a place where they can go and be safe and start to heal. These kids that are here with us tonight that you'll hear from in a little bit are a testament to the service we have. This is Sierra, Kwan and Christina and they are so happy to be here tonight.
Kid #1: We'd like to - here? - we’d like to thank the Smashing Pumpkins for their support...their support of children's charity.
Kid #2: And of all those charities out there, for choosing The Family Place.
Kid #3: The Family Place would like to thank the Smashing Pumpkins for all their generosity.
BC: Okay...the Smashing Pumpkins are proud to present The Family Place with a check for $116,506. Thank you, thank you.
Iha: A big round of applause for them. Yes, there's more excitement to come and now we will return to rock for a moment. And we hope that you will rock along with us in this rocking rock and roll moment. If we can always find our D’arcy. There she is, this is 1979!
1979
> Summertime (tease)
> Blank Page
BC: Thanks a lot. This is normally where we quit, but uh...you all have been such a great audience we'd like to continue just one more song for you. Those of you who don't wanna stay, we understand it kinda gets very spacey and jammy from this point out, goodbye, have a good night. Plus I feel kinda partially responsible for fucking up the last song. So we’ll thank you now, thanks again for a great evening. We're still the Smashing Pumpkins, by the way. I don't know what you heard but we are still the Smashing Pumpkins. (Iha noodles a little) Got the Texas blues there, Iha, or what? Heh heh heh heh. Alright, [unintelligible].
