"The Star-Spangled Banner"
Cover song by The Smashing Pumpkins
Original by Francis Scott Key
Songwriter(s)Francis Scott Key, John Stafford Smith

"The Star-Spangled Banner" is the national anthem of the United States. The Smashing Pumpkins and Zwan have teased it many times throughout shows, dating back to at least 1992 (usually during a "Silverfuck" jam) and extending through the Zeitgeist tour (often during "United States"). The "French Movie Theme" from the "Cherub Rock" single includes a take of the song.

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

Oh say can you see
By the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hail
By the twilight's last gleaming
Whose broad stripes and bright stars
Through the perilous night
O'er the ramparts we watched
Were so gallantly streaming
And the rocket's red glare
The bombs, bombs, boom! in air
Gave proof through the night
That our flag was still there
Oh say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
From the land of the free
And the home of the brave
