Jay Leno: Alright, my next guests are breaking up in two weeks, it’s their last performance on TV. Uh, this is their uh, they’re doing a song from their final album, Machina 2 - (referencing the vinyl copy he’s holding) it’s the biggest CD I’ve ever seen. You can download it on the internet, their farewell concert will be at the Metro in Chicago December 2nd, please welcome Smashing Pumpkins.
Cash Car Star
Leno: Nice job, you guys. [unintelligible word or two], Billy. I gotta ask you now, before we - ask a question...why uh, why is the last performance, why are you guys breakin’ up?
BC: Uh, comedy doesn’t pay, Jay.
Leno: Huh?
BC: Heh, comedy doesn’t pay.
Leno: (laughing) Doesn’t pay?
BC: Comedy doesn’t pay.
Leno: Comedy doesn’t pay, you know we have these Billy Corgan action figures of you? (pulls one from inner suit pocket) We made this as a tribute, that’s not bad...that’s not bad. There you go.
BC: He looks like he’s having a better time than me though.
Leno: Well, there you go. Well, you’ll be back, you guys’ll be back, great job. I wanna thank all the guests on the show tonight: David Alan Grier from DAG, Tuesday nights, thank you David, of course Adam Sandler, Little Nicky, it’s in theaters right now. Thanks, you guys...
BC: Thank you.
Leno: ...Billy, please come back for the reunion.
BC: Thank you, heh heh heh.
Leno: Thanks guys. Smashing Pumpkins, thank you very much. Thanks everybody, see you Monday, have a good weekend everybody, bye bye, stay tuned for Conan!
