In April 2007, Ginger Pooley (then known as Ginger Reyes) was announced as the new bassist for The Smashing Pumpkins, replacing former bassists D'arcy Wretzky and Melissa Auf der Maur, in the new line-up. She played roughly 175 shows with the band, starting with the reunion show in Paris and through the end of the 20th Anniversary tour. Pooley has taken part in three Smashing Pumpkins music videos: "Tarantula", "That's the Way (My Love Is)" and "G.L.O.W."

On October 17, 2009 Pooley gave birth to a baby girl, Talula Victoria Pooley. Now married with children, in March 2010 Pooley left The Smashing Pumpkins to focus on her family. She made her last appearance with the band as a special guest on "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" at the Space 15 Twenty in Los Angeles on April 17, 2010. At this show, Billy Corgan debuted the song "Tallulah Lu", which was dedicated to Pooley and another friend from back in Chicago, both of whom had recently given birth to child named Tallulah.
Aside from her work with Smashing Pumpkins, Pooley has played bass for Gwen Stefani, Lea Michele and many others. She is an artist and songwriter who has released solo music under the name Ginger Sling. She was also part of the female punk band the Halo Friendlies. She has toured all over the world and her music has been placed on many television shows and films.
