Iha: It’s wild. Wild.
BC: It’s been wacky, wouldn’t you agree, Melissa, yes. Many strange notes have been played, yes. New interpretations to old favorites, yes. Sort of a new form of jazz, yes. Now, uh, this next number, we’d like to faithfully reproduce this one for you if that’s possible. Yes. This is, uh, our last rock and roll single, this is called Try, Try, Try.

BC: Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Well, this old train’s comin’ to a stop, heh heh.
Iha: Trains.
BC: The little engine that couldn’t. Ladies and gentlemen, we’d like to now introduce the band. On, uh, well, what words could describe, heh heh heh.... On the atmosphental piano, Mr. Mike Garson. On the bright side of the moon synthesizers, Mr. Christopher Holmes. Workin’ the hometown vibe. On the bass guitar, Miss Melissa Auf der Maur. On the Rupert St. Holmes lead guitar, Mr. James Iha. On the drums...and lead acoustic guitar, Mr. Jimmy Chamberlin.
Iha: And, uh, on the lead - on the lead mic and guitar, Mr. Billy Corgan.
BC: A couple of things before we play our final song this evening. I don’t know what this means. This does not translate. Does this mean thank you, goodnight? (crowd says no) Does this mean, uh, Portugal will win the World Cup in 2004? I don’t know, you gotta look out for Cameroon, they’re coming on strong. Cameroon, who knew? Cameroon. It’s Cameroon! Gotta give ‘em some applause! Who wants to see France win again? Not me, I don’t care, Cameroon. Sorry, I’m from America, we don’t know anything about soccer. Two things, two things. Number one, we’d like to say thank you very much to the Smashing Pumpkins fans here in Portugal. And number two, number two, go Cameroon, no, I’m just kidding.
Iha: I had to go back.
BC: Number two, I have to say...I’m very fuckin’ quick. I’m a little tired, I just got back from the Olympics. Judo. Number two, I have to say, uh, our band has probably played about 600 or 700 concerts around the world and I mean it when I say this, the audiences in Portugal are the best audiences in the world.
Iha: Thank you, you’re very welcome. I don’t know [unintelligible].
