Bob English was a long time friend of Billy Corgan's who served as his guitar tech and The Smashing Pumpkins' touring manager for the first few years of their existence. He played bass on the Starchildren track "Delusions of Candor".[1] At early 1990's shows, he often introduced the band, and occasionally provided vocals for the Blue Öyster Cult cover "Godzilla".
English is credited, at least by James Iha and D'arcy Wretzky, as coming up with the band's name.[2] Not much more is known about him, though he was also Corgan's roommate during (at a minimum) the writing of Siamese Dream. English and Corgan had a falling out somewhere near the end of the Rock Invasion tour and Corgan has generally spoken disparagingly of him since then.
