Banter[edit | edit source]

2008 Intro
Tarantula
> G.L.O.W.
Kill Your Parents
> Siva
Eye
Mayonaise
> Tonight, Tonight
> Speed Kills
BC: Thank you.
Transformer
> Superchrist
> United States / Star Spangled Banner
BC: Thank you. Yeah. How’s it going back there, you alright? That sounds good. Like to take a second to introduce the band to you. It’s a great band I get to play in, very lucky. On guitar, Mr. Jeff Schroeder. Gettin’ it done. On the bass, Mrs. Ginjeer--(rewinding noise)--Mrs. Ginger Pooley. On the keys, Ms. Lisa. And on the drums, my main man, Mr. Jimmy Chamberlin.
Once Upon a Time (acoustic)
Again, Again, Again (acoustic)
BC: Thank you very kindly, thank you.
The Rose March (acoustic)
BC: Thank you. Oh no, don’t get up, relax. The second half of the show hasn’t started yet. When you leap to your feet in a blaze of glory, let’s all do it together, you know? I know rock and roll makes me tired too. Uh, heh. Anyway. I see you, I see that lady right there, yes. Mother of my two children right there in the back. I don’t know her last name, but.... Before we start the second half of the show--a very promising second half, I might add.... Hope reigns supreme. A friend of mine sent me a message today, said that she saw a veteran on the side of the road begging. She said, “Would you say something about the soldiers tonight?” And I thought, “Oh, gee, I don’t know, you know....” Then I thought, “Now you’re--you’re an idiot, Corgan, say something about the soldiers.” I’d like to say something about the soldiers right now. Wherever you land on the side of this war that’s going on, there’s a lot of guys, a lot of girls coming home, missing a lot: arms, legs, minds. And we need to start pulling together to take care of these people, no matter what you think about what they did or didn’t do. Thank you. I don’t give a fuck about politics but I give a fuck about people. ‘Course that’s what happens when you’re a robot, you just want to empathize with the human race. It’s been a while since I was human and uh, it’s just like a fuzzy memory. Okay, now...stay relaxed now, I don’t want you to get too excited on this next song. If you get too excited, the band will get really nervous and there’ll be lots of mistakes because we’re just not used to being liked, you see. We used to be misunderstood, that we could deal with. Boo?: no problem. Adore?: liked, that’s too confusing. This one’s for all our soldiers, spiritual, literal.
Today
> Bullet with Butterfly Wings
The Beginning is the End is the Beginning
Heavy Metal Machine / White Rabbit / White Horse / Stranglehold / Wild Thing
> Glass’ Theme
Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun
[encore break]
We Only Come Out at Night (with Kris Pooley)
> In the Summertime (with Kris Pooley)
(Jeff during Jimmy’s kazoo solo: Aw, come on, don’t act like it’s [unintelligible].)
(BC verse 3 alt lyrics: In the summertime when the weather is fine / You can fuck who you want, you can do what you want in the summertime / (spoken) You could do whatever the fuck you want! It’s cool, I love the sun / (singing) In the summertime, I got dudes, I got dudes on my mind)
(BC during Kris accordion solo: I feel joy in the room. Joy, joy, just total joy. ... Where am I? Take it, Ginger!)
(BC at beginning of piano outro: Thank you very much, thank you! To a great tour, [unintelligible] absolute for this.)
(towards end of normal piano outro, Bill Sr. starts playing over it)
BC: Okay, wait wait wait wait wait, hold on, hold on, hold on, wait wait. (Lisa stops playing) Dad, I told you not to come out here. You’re always trying to steal the spotlight. I told you, stay backstage, just keep it together.
Bill Sr.: When you were at grammar school and I used to get you up and tell you, “Billy, get up, put your dress on, get to school,” he fought me all the way! I said, “Look, if you’re gonna be a fuckin’ rock star, you gotta start early.” Eighth grade, “you gotta wear that outfit or you’re not gonna get anywhere, so....” Wassup, Clearwater? Tampa?
I’ve Been Working (with Bill Corgan, Sr.)
(BC towards end of song: Thank you very much, thank you, thank you! Hope you had a good time. We’re just gonna go on for infinity here.)
Bill Sr.: Thank you, Billy.
