Live at Cabaret Metro 10-5-88 is a live album by The Smashing Pumpkins of the October 5, 1988 performance, which was the very first show after hiring Jimmy Chamberlin. The album was handed out for free at the band's final pre-2007 performance, also at the Metro, on December 2, 2000. The album artwork was designed by James Iha, featuring a boombox wired to a mermaid's head. There are an estimated 1,200 copies of the CD in existence.

The CD was accompanied by a note that read:

Please enjoy this gift from the Smashing Pumpkins and Metro. This is a recording of the Smashing Pumpkins' first show at Metro on October 5 1988. The artwork is by James Iha. We hope you enjoyed the show, and we thank you for your many years of support. --The Smashing Pumpkins and Metro

The performance was a critical turning point for the band. In 2012, Billy Corgan and The Metro owner Joe Shanahan were interviewed on WBEZ 91.5 FM, recalling how the 1988 show unfolded, including Joe's persistence that they hire a drummer, which indirectly paved the way for their success.
