Tribute to Johnny
"Tribute to Johnny" is an instrumental song by the The Smashing Pumpkins released with the "Zero" EP, which was bundled with the box set The Aeroplane Flies High. It is a tribute to Johnny Winter, whom Corgan considers one of his favorite guitarists.[1] The song was originally supposed to feature Corgan sporadically screaming "Oh yeah!" in the same manner that Johnny Winter would, although this was not present in the final version.[2]

“ | We have a Johnny Winter tribute song that we're going to record for the next album. It sounds like Rick Derringer-era Johnny Winter, like the 'Rock'n'Roll Hootchie Koo' days... when i watched the Bob Dylan tribute, the only part that smoked me was when Johnny came out and did 'Highway 61'. Even James Iha, who couldn't give two shits about Johnny Winter, had his mouth hanging open. | ” |
