Introduction by MC.
Pink Elephants on Parade Intro
Corgan: Hello. Are you ready? We're going to celebrate the new year.
MC: Hi everybody!  Happy new year.  Welcome to the Cabaret Metro.
BC: Richard, wait.  ...
MC: So, I’ve got a question for you.  What do you do after your debut album is one of the best albums of the year?  What do you do after surviving a tour with the Red Hot Chili Peppers?  You come back home, you celebrate the new year with family and friends right here at the Metro.  I’m Richard Milne from the All Night Groove Thing on XRT Radio Chicago.  Please say hello to Smashing Pumpkins.
(feedback intro to Rocket begins)
BC: Hello. Are you ready? Alright, we’re gonna -– we’re gonna celebrate the new year right now.

Iha: Hey, thanks a lot.
Corgan: Oh yeah. Yeah I can't even remember my own fucking song, it's pitiful, it's what happens when you take drugs when you play in a band.
Bye June (abandoned midway through 2nd verse)
BC: Aw, yeah. Yeah, I can't even remember my own fuckin’ song, I know, it’s, it's pitiful.  It’s what happens when you take drugs and you play in a band.
Tristessa
Tristessa
Corgan: Yeah, we got the blues.
BC: Yeah, we got the blues.
Wretzky: I just want to apologize right now, cause my dad is here, and he's making me really nervous.
D’arcy: I just want to apologize right now ‘cause my dad is here and he's making me really nervous, so....
Iha: A salute to Jerry Wretzky, keeper of Bugg.
Iha: A salute to Jerry Wretzky.  The keeper of Bugg.
Corgan: You know who Bugg is, don't you? Who actually owns the album, that's the real question, yeah, Happy New Year, but who's Bugg, man?
BC: You know who Bugg is, don't you? Who actually owns the album, see...
Iha: That's the real poignant question of New Year's Eve. It's who is Bugg? Why are we all here?
Guy in crowd: Poof, a happy new year!
BC: ...that's the real question, yeah, happy new year.  Yeah, whatever, but...
Iha: (laughing) “Yeah, whatever, happy new year.”
BC: (laughing) Heh, but who is Bugg, man?
Iha: That's the real poignant question of New Year's Eve is who is Bugg and why are we all here?

Iha: Sorry I sprained my ankle today.
(guitar feedback continues for nearly 60 seconds as Billy and Iha talk over it)
Corgan: He sprained his ankle.
BC: I -- I believe it’s tap dance time.  ...
Iha: I've got what's called 'hoofer's disease'
Iha: It’s too cool.
Corgan: This is a song about loving an animal, really loving an animal. And not just the farm kind, either.
BC: This is where James normally tap dances, but--
Siva
Iha: It’s too cool.
BC: James, shut up your guitar, please.  (feedback ends)
Iha: Sorry, I sprained my ankle today.
BC: (laughing) He’s got a sprained ankle.
Iha: I've got what they call hoofer’s disease.
BC: This is a song about loving animals, really loving animals.  ...  And not just the farm kind either.

(Billy quietly begins Suffer)
BC: Are you gonna listen to our song or you gonna talk?

I Am One
> I Am One
Corgan: Thank you very much. You know, I have to talk to, be quiet.  You know, I've said a lot of bad things about Chicago.  I thought I was just being honest like I am an honest person with our music, our band, so if anyone's offended by the things I've said, don't take it too personally.  It's still my home and the things I say are not meant to put things down, they're attempts to make things better. Hopefully we'll see more bands out of Chicago. Nothing would make me happier than to see more bands from here because it's a great place, but don't you forget, you have to support these people and they may not have their shit together at the beginning, but try and look beyond the obvious jewels in the rough and try to see a band.  There's a lot of people here who were with us from the beginning, and they supported us very early.  And to you people, we thank you forever, because you gave us hope. It's easy to sit up here and say these things, but we've had a good year. But when things were rough there really were people who supported us and I can't say enough thank yous.
[encore break]
Iha: Yes, thank you very much. Sincerely.
BC: Thank you very much. ...  You know, wait, I have to talk to you, you have to be quiet for a second.  You know, I've said a lot of bad things about Chicago, I don’t know if you’ve -- heh heh.  Oh hey.  I thought I was being honest in the best way that I could, just like I’m an honest person with our music and our band, so if anyone's offended by the things I said, don't try to take it too personally, this still is our home and the things I say are not meant to necessarily put things down, but they're attempts to make things better and hopefully...hopefully we'll see more bands out of Chicago, they’re.... N-nothing –- nothin’ would make me happier to see other bands succeed from here, it’s a great place.  But, don’t forget you have to support these people and they may not have their shit together all, you know, all the time from the beginning, but try and look beyond the obvious and try and look for those jewels in the -– in the rough and try and see a band.  There’s a lot of people here who were with us from the beginning and they supported us very early on.  And to you people, we thank you forever.  Because you gave us hope. And it’s easy to sit up here now, we’ve had a really good year, and say these things, but when it was hard and things were really rough, there were people there that really supported us and I can’t say enough thank yous.
Iha: Yes, thank you very much. Sincerely.
