Teargarden by Kaleidyscope - Vol. 2: The Solstice Bare released November 22, 2010! It is the second EP of the Teargarden by Kaleidyscope project by The Smashing Pumpkins.
After completing the initial work, the band recruited new bassist Nicole Fiorentino. The single "Freak" was released in July 2010 and reached #27 on the Billboard Alternative chart and #34 on the Rock Songs chart. That same year, the band launched the Rock 'n' Roll Party tour, and went on to tour several continents, playing songs from the new album and promoting the free downloads. On October 12, 2010, "The Fellowship" was released on the television soundtrack for The Vampire Diaries.
The Solstice Bare, which was named after a lyric in the song "Tom Tom", was released as a full EP on November 22, 2010 in the form of a cardboard box with the 4-song CD in a letterpressed sleeve and a 12" vinyl picture disc with all four EP tracks and a b-side. Jon Stone of the American Songwriter reacted positively, stating that "Respect is given to the song[s], rather than just the hook—quite an accomplishment from one of the most prolific and talented of hook writers." Consequence called it the "happier, more radio-friendly" EP to come out of the Teargarden project, adding that Corgan uses "unique voice to the best of his advantage."
