In general, he is one of the few hard rock drummers to combine a driving backbeat with jazz-like flourishes. In 2008, Gigwise named Chamberlin the 5th best drummer of all time. In 2016, Rolling Stone ranked Jimmy Chamberlin 53 on their list of "100 Greatest Drummers Of All Time".
