Mary Star of the Sea
(BC after lyrics, before coda: Good evening! Welcome to our fifth and final show here at the Cabaret Metro. We are the Zwan.)
> Ride a Black Swan
> Honestly
BC: Oops, I messed up. Heh heh heh. I wasn’t supposed to do that. ... I messed up. You know what, just tune up the, just tune up the other one now. How’s everybody doing? Whoo! I’m so hopped up on red meat still. Hey, how you doin’, man? It’s nice to see everybody. ... Alright, who’s gonna win the Super Bowl? What’s wrong with football? Just ‘cause the Bears suck doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the game. Anyway, we’d like to dedicate this song to all the Super Bowl competitors, it’s a song called For Your Love.
For Your Love
Settle Down
Lyric
Jesus, I
> God’s Gonna Set This World on Fire
Heartsong (abandoned after first line)
BC: Shit, I forgot the words, heh. ... Sorry about that, heh heh heh. Let’s do it together, Jimmy.
Jimmy: Thank you!
Heartsong
BC: Thank you very much, sorry about that. That was a song called Heartsong from our new, uh, record, Mary Star. It’s just a [unintelligible]. I’d like to introduce the band to you. On the guitar and the vocals, Mr. Matt Sweeney. On the drums, Mr. Jimmy Chamberlin. Joliet’s own. On the violin and the bass and the vocals, the lovely Paz. On the piano, guitar, the occasional vocal, the slight harmonica, the lovely Dave. Spaghetti Dave.
Sweeney: And that’s Billy Burke.
BC: We’d like to do a sad song for you, in direct opposition to all our other happy songs, this is called Of a Broken Heart.
Of a Broken Heart
BC: Mr. Jimmy’s having a technical problem, so.... (brief Jimmy solo) Drum solo, no? He hates drum solos. The whole, the whole, the whole set’s a drum solo. Alright, enough of this horsing around.
Endless Summer
Declarations of Faith
A New Poetry
BC: God bless you, thank you.
[encore break]
BC: Uh, in December, uh, we did a tour and we were really busy, so it was really hard for me to Christmas shop. So, we came up with a new idea which was a Zwan Christmas, which is January 25th. That way there’s no pressure on the Zwan members to get gifts in a timely fashion. So, uh, merry Christmas. Here’s your coal, Dave. You can open it if you want, I think you should open yours especially. ... Of course you notice they didn’t get me anything, but it’s alright. I still love ‘em. ... A Rolling Stone book for Matt. Rolling Stones. It’s signed by Keith, to you. Just kidding. He wouldn’t return my call. Couple more things. You got more than one thing. There’s more in the bag, Dave. Little prog for you. Some Mahavishnu.
Sweeney: Scorpions. (crowd cheers) And to go with that, Tribal Folk and Café Music of West Africa.
BC: Alright. Thank you very much again, thank you. Before we, uh, before we start, we should take a second to, uh, to thank the staff of the Cabaret Metro or the Metro, whatever it’s called, Joe. I certainly, uh, owe this, this club a, uh, immense gret-a-dat, uh, immense debt of gratitude and, uh, I believe it’s an important part of our city, so...Joe, are you up there? (crowd cheering) Joe Shanahan, people. Thank you, Joe. And, of course, our great crew for making this a great stay. Thank you, Chicago peoples. Matt, you can plug your ears on this part, just plug your ears. The greatest city in the world. We’d like to dedicate this next song to all of Chicago, it’s called Come With Me.
Come With Me
I’m Eighteen
BC: Thank you. Thank you.
[encore break]
Riverview
> Spilled Milk
BC: God bless you.
