"Who We Are" is a single by Jessica Simpson recorded for her reality TV show, The Price of Beauty. Simpson co-wrote the song with Billy Corgan, Evan Bogart and Shari Short, and it was produced by Kerry Brown at his Coldwater Studios. The song was first announced on Corgan and Brown's Twitter in January 2010, and was released digitally on March 9, 2010.

"She asked me to help her out on the theme song for her new TV show," Corgan told the Chicago Tribune. "[The show] has an interesting concept. She goes around the world to show how different people perceive beauty. I ended up writing part of (the theme song). It has a little bit of an alternative rock edge, but it's still very poppy."[1]

Despite how the tabloids portrayed the two as a couple in early 2010, Corgan and Simpson maintained they were just friends. "Sometimes people just like being around each other, and good things come out of that. Corgan told Rolling Stone, "My goal in life is to love whoever I think is worth loving, and I think if people knew her like I knew her, they would love her like I do. It’s really simple."[2] Jessica Simpson told The Sydney Morning Herald that "[Billy Corgan] is very, very dear" to her.[3]

The Price of Beauty gained a generally positive reception, pulling in 1 million viewers on its premiere. The show was also nominated for a Teen Choice Award.

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

Who we are
Who we are
Who we are

Who we are
Who we are
Who we are

I have to take control
So much is left untold
Trying to find myself
At times it's hard to know
Who we are, we are, we are

Words can cut so deep
Weighing down on me
Time and time I see
How vicious the world can be
Who we are, we are, we are

We're beautiful
Our flaws and all
They're beautiful to me
It's who we are, who we are
It's who we're meant to be

We're beautiful
Our flaws and all
They're beautiful to me
It's who we are, who we are
It's who we're meant to be
Now never change a thing

We all have broken days
To paint it on our face
It gets too much to fake
And we want to hide away
Who we are, we are, we are
Inside, inside

We're beautiful
Our flaws and all
They're beautiful to me
It's who we are, it's who we are
It's who we're meant to be
Now never change a thing

You've got to be you for yourself
Cause you're like nobody else
Who you are, you are, you are, you are
Yeah

Our flaws and all
They're beautiful to me
It's who we are, it's who we are
It's who we're meant to be

We're beautiful
Our flaws and all
They're beautiful to me
It's who we are, it's who we are
It's who we're meant to be
Now never change a thing

Who we are
Who we are
Who we are

Who we are
Who we are
Who we are

Who we are
Who we are
Who we are

Who we are
