Banter[edit | edit source]

Atum Intro
The Everlasting Gaze
> Doomsday Clock
> Once in a Lifetime
Iha: Salt Lake, how are you guys doin’? Thank you so much. We are happy to be here, we are the Smashing Pumpkins, thank you so much for coming out tonight.
Today
Perfect
Disarm (acoustic)
The Celestials
Iha: How are you guys doin’? Are you enjoying the rock show? Thanks to Royal Blood [sic] and Stone Temple Pilots, those guys are great. But we got about six hundred more songs.
Purple Blood
> Ava Adore
(BC after Jimmy solo: Ow! Mr. Jimmy Chamberlin on the drums! Ow!)
BC: James, how you doin’ tonight?
Iha: I’m doin’ great. How are you doin’?
BC: You know, heh heh heh.... You know how many people are here tonight?
Iha: Uh, this is -- this is pretty good, it looks awesome out there, thank you so much, heh heh.
BC: Thirteen thousand plus people here tonight.
Iha: And the last time we played here, there were eight. Eight people. This is a big step up for us.
BC: You know why these thirteen thousand plus people came here tonight?
Iha: Party their brains out? I don’t know.
BC: They wanna see you do your 20 minute solo acoustic solo, go.
Iha: Actually...I was gonna do a spoken word rap, but...I’m still working on it. Heh.
BC: Been a while.
Iha: It’s been -- it’s been a while and I just need to tweak it a little more before I’m ready. (Billy starts playing muted guitar) Salt Lake, I’m levitated on your salt. Drifting out into the time space fabric that we all know. That’s in Salt Lake. (Billy stops guitar) Alright, that’s all I got tonight. It’s been very, very comedic.
BC: That’s the best applause we got all night, heh heh heh!
Iha: Goodnight!
BC: They’re here to see Rival Sons, they’re here to see Stone Temple Pilots.
Iha: Those guys are good.
BC: And I think they’re here to see the myth, the legend...the continual implosion...
Iha: Yes?
BC: ...and explosion that is the Smashing Pumpkins.
Iha: Ah! Now, what do you guys wanna hear? You wanna hear fusion jazz -- jazz fusion?
BC: This young man and I started this band about 36 years ago, so thank you so much. 36 years ago.
Iha: That’s a tremendous amount of time.
BC: Hahahaha! Would you like to rap about it?
Iha: No. (Billy starts muted guitar again) I’m old as hell. 36 years makes me feel old as hell. (Billy stops guitar)
BC: Haha! We’re gonna just stick with the rap, we’ll do it really good now. But seriously, we’re so appreciative of everyone here, thank you for taking the time to spend this evening with us, this beautiful weather. This wonderful setting. So we’d like to dedicate this next song to everyone here, you might know it. And I guess, ostensibly the lyric works here, because they do live near a lake, like we do. A different kinda lake. So we’ll sing for your city by the lake, this is a little song we like to call Tonight, Tonight.
Tonight, Tonight (Billy/Iha acoustic)
Bullet with Butterfly Wings
This Time
Spellbinding
Hubble Bubble (Toil and Trouble)
> Jellybelly
BC: Ha! Thank you so much.
Iha: It’s a windy night here in Salt Lake. I feel like I’m in a ‘80s music video.
BC: At least you have hair to be in a ‘80s music video.
Iha: Heh. You guys doin’ alright?
BC: You guys having a good time?
Iha: Are you having a reasonable time? Alright.
BC: I’ve learned something over this last hour and 10 minutes.
Iha: What is that?
BC: That these people wanna rock.
Iha: Let’s rock.
BC: Can you feel that, can you feel that?
Iha: I feel the rock [unintelligible word].
BC: Do you wanna rock?
I Wanna Rock (tease)
Iha: I wa -- (high pitched) I wanna rock!
