(BC after Jimmy solo: Ow! Mr. Jimmy Chamberlin on the drums! Sure is hot here by the beach. Heh heh, I’m known for my beachgoing.)
Spellbinding
Iha: [cuts in] I know I just asked you, but....
Under the Milky Way (Billy/Iha acoustic)
BC: [cuts in] ...rumor.
Iha: A rumor.
BC: That’s the word, right?
Iha: A rumor.
BC: We heard a rumor, that over in this part of Australia, they like to party pretty hard.
Iha: Heh heh heh heh.
BC: I don’t know if that’s true.
Iha: I –- I asked somebody about the Gold Coast, a local man, and he said “There’s gold here.” Said everybody’s rich. Every year, they give out 12 ounces of gold to the citizens of the Gold Coast and I was like, “Wow, that’s an amazing place.” I was like, “Really?” and he’s like, “Yep, that’s what the Gold Coast is.” So uh, I’m ready to move here.
BC: Does that mean you’re leaving the Pumpkins and you’re gonna join the Church?
Iha: I’m just gonna hang out in the Gold Coast. Go surfing, even though I don’t know how to swim. Heh heh heh.
BC: Heh heh! Yes, yes, I’m here to do everything you want, whatever that is. I’m here to live and destroy and fuck and kill and breathe and write poetry and surf. Live in the bellies of whales and uh, go shark hunting and I’m here to do it all. We love this part of the show because it’s our only opportunity in our hit filled set to thank you individually, thank you for 35 years of the Smashing Pumpkins. If you were born, heh heh heh heh heh...if you were born after 1988 or so when we started this band, thank you very much for being here. If you’re older than that...well, we all know you can’t remember the ‘90s anyway, it was a lot of fun. And I love to dedicate this song to all our wonderful fans -– and anybody here for the first time to see us, thank you so much for making this a wonderful tour for us.
Iha: Yes, thank you, thank you, and thanks to Amyl and the Sniffers and Jane’s Addiction.
BC: What about me, you’re not gonna thank me?
Iha: I mean, heh....
BC: (laughing) It’s the perfect time to get sensitive. Uh, so we love to dedicate this song to everybody, so please take this to heart from us, this little song we wrote back in 1994, it is called Tonight, Tonight.
Tonight, Tonight (Billy/Iha acoustic)
Iha: [cuts in] Mr. Jeff Schroeder. On the drums, all the way from Illinois, Mr. Jimmy Chamberlin! On lead vocals, guitar, Mr. Billy Corgan! I’m James Iha and this is called Cherub Rock.
Cherub Rock
> Zero
> Love Gun (tease)
1979
Beguiled
> Silverfuck / The End
(BC immediately after final lyrics: Brisbane! Queensland! Melbourne! Adelaide! The World is a Vampire! Gold Coast, thank you very much!)
Iha: Thank you so much. Thank you so much, get home safe.
