BC: Alright. We’ve now reached the portion of the show where we go into the Adore album. Thank you to the 14 people that bought it at the time. How funny, uh, for the Adore album, I wrote some 35-something songs, somewhere around there. Take a few or less. Um, so yeah, so we’d like to play a short suite of songs from that 35 batch. And uh, in many cases we’re playing the songs as they were written, so you get a chance of the original feeling of the song, maybe not the produced song, so we hope you enjoy that. Now this first song.... This first song, uh, has never been played live...for people. Now those of you talking, would you raise your hands? It’s okay, I won’t yell at you, it’s okay. For those of you talking, please raise your hands, okay? Okay, you wanna leave for this portion. It gets very intimate and I know in the modern world, a lot of people have trouble with intimacy. You communicate through devices and um, I’m a real person, I know that’s hard to deal with. Here I am. And uh, heh heh, yes, I’m breaking through the wall. Is the word “convivial?” Does anyone know that word? Does anyone talking know the word “convivial?” Uh, not to spoil the mood but uh, I thought I’d explain this song a little bit before I play it. Uh, sometimes you read these crazy things about where somebody does something because they heard voices in their head. I had an incidence where, um, a young man - this is way back in the day - decided to kill another young boy because he said my music had told him to do it. So, my first artistic impulse was to write a song and I thought, “No, that’s kinda cheesy. I think the young man’s death was significant enough not to try to compartmentalize it into a four minute ode.” But that said, this song came out of me, um, some months later and uh, as I was writing it, I couldn’t help but think about that young man and the dreams that he gave up at the hands of someone else who decided that he was in his way. This is a song called Jersey Shore.
