A Stitch in Time Synth Intro
Astral Planes
> Ava Adore
Drown
> As Rome Burns
A Song for a Son
BC: Thank you very much, thank you.
Today
Eye
> Bullet with Butterfly Wings
(BC after trying multiple times to get the audience to sing correctly during their part: You guys don’t even know this song. It goes like this.)
United States / Star Spangled Banner / Moby Dick
BC: Yeah.
Jeff: [unintelligible]
BC: (high pitched) Thank you. Woo! Woo. (normal) Thank you so much. Thank you. Did you see they have a series here? “Sings Like Hell.”
Jeff: Sing--Sings Like Hell?
BC: Sings Like Hell and then....
Jeff: Thing--Things Like Hell, Things.
BC: And then, they even have a quote from Satan.
Jeff: Oh wow, what’d he say?
BC: Somethin’, I dunno.
Jeff: Oh yeah, it’s hell right now, these are the hell lights.
BC: Love Satan. Like to introduce the band to you. Over here on my left, Nicole Fiorentino. Over here in front of me, Mike Byrne. And to my right, the Shredder, Jeff Schroeder. And I am El Capitan. Alright. This is usually the portion where people shout things, so go ahead, do that. To us, it kinda sounds like a (long growl noise). But I kinda like it. It feels like home, heh heh. They’re yelling Freak at me, Jeff, I’ve heard this my whole life. So uh, wha--let’s see. We’re just about halfway through the show. After this, it gets a little more gentle. I’m getting mellow in my old age.
Jeff: Oh yeah.
BC: Just getting gentle. This is a song called--it’s, it’s actually a love song. It’s called My Love Is Winter.
Jeff: Heh.
My Love Is Winter
> Perfect
BC: Thank you very much. You know, that’s the end of the show. Oh yeah. That’s the end of the show. I mean, you know, you get tired up here, you just wanna lay down. I see some of you out there sitting down, I mean, you’re tired, I’m tired, you know, just go lay down somewhere. We got some cots in the back. Heh heh. Always the middle finger. It’s always the girl with the big dude too. The girl with the big dude’s always giving the middle finger. Heh heh. Heh heh, if only it was so easy. I like Santa Barbara. Beautiful place. You know, Nic, do you know how we’re getting more successful?
Nicole: How?
BC: Because the audiences are getting better looking. That’s how you know.
Nicole: They’re actually really hot, I was just thinking that.
BC: The beautiful people never want to miss a party. And this is a party.
Nicole: It’s a rock and roll party.
BC: This is a rock and roll death party.
Nicole: I think that was the title.
BC: Hot chicks...cheap wine....
Nicole: Expensive wine.
BC: Some legal weed. You know there’s some legal weed smokers. ‘Cause they got a bad back, Jeff. They had to go to the doctor and get that weed to deal with the bad back. Heh. Alright, well, we’re gonna reignite the alternative rock revolution right here. I know you’re new to this, Mike, but like, they’ll just leap to their feet in ecstasy. So it’ll be like.... An exalted kind of (makes noise). Heh heh, alright.
Cherub Rock
> That’s the Way
> Tonight, Tonight
Stand Inside Your Love
> Tarantula
(BC over big rock ending: Thank you very much, thank you.)
[encore break]
Disarm (Billy solo karaoke)
> Freak
BC: Thank you very much. We have one more song to play for you. Like to thank KJEE 92.9, hookin’ us up. “Santa Barbara’s rock station.” What now? You think they play like...STP or, hahahaha. Like...
Jeff: Collective Soul, Collective Soul.
BC: ...Head Like a Hole and--what now?
Jeff: Collective Soul.
BC: You think they play Collective Soul? Does KJEE play Collective Soul?
Shine (tease - about 30 seconds of full band playing instrumental)
BC: Do they play like classic Sabbath? Yes? Oh okay. So you’re old then.
Black Sabbath (tease - Billy plays first 3 notes)
BC: You don’t know that one?
Jeff: No I don’t, but I bet they don’t play that one.
BC: You don’t think they play Black Sabbath?
Jeff: No, not that song.
BC: Sweet Leaf?
Jeff: Yeah, Sweet Leaf.
Sweet Leaf (tease - first 5 notes)
BC: I bet they play Iron Man. No? Paranoid? They don’t care. Well, thank you for an interesting show. Always interesting at a Smashing Pumpkins show, you never know what you’re gonna see, right? You never know what you’re gonna feel. Well, thank you very much for coming, we appreciate you. So we bid you adieu, we hope to see you again soon.
