BC: Can you hear this guitar? I’d like to send out a couple dedications, uh, I got a really nice letter before the show from a girl, Shannon Brown, I just wanna tell you that I read your letter and uh, I hope you pull through, thank you, it’s a beautiful letter. And to the rest of you, thank you very much, we love you very much and appreciate your support for our band. Sometimes it’s, uh, it’s a little strange to be in the most loved and hated band in the world, but uh, we thank you for the love part. So we dedicate this next song to you, this is Tonight, Tonight.

Iha: Word, word. Thanks a lot, uh, you guys have been really great tonight, you’ve been rockin’ and super enthusiastic and cool. Um, tonight as you know, it’s - it’s, uh, a charity night and all your ticket money has gone to a very good cause. Um, the name of the place is Elon Homes for Children and uh, it’s a really great place that we visited today and uh, come on out. Heh. And now this gentlemen from Elon Homes would like a few words with you.
Guy: How’s everyone doing tonight? Great, great, great. Oh wow, we had a great time, I think we had the best seat back here in the house, man, we had a great time, best seats in the house. Um, I really wanna say, you know, thank you. I really wanna say, you know, today on the campus, um, Smashing Pumpkins came out and um, I want you to know that because of you fans, because of you fans, um, the mayor from Charlotte, uh, Pat McCrory, came out on the campus today and proclaimed August the 6th, 1998 as the Smashing Pumpkins Day. Thanks to you guys. ... Alright. Also, I’d like to thank James, D’arcy and Billy...for this very special day for the Elon Homes for Children. As you know, they have given us a hundred percent of the ticket sales. They are definitely making a standard for the entertainers to follow.
Some guy: (off mic) We only have time for just a minute.
Guy: (off mic) Okay. (on mic) And just a little bit about Elon Homes, we are an organization that’s been around since 1907. We have two campuses, one here in Charlotte and the other one in Burlington. What we do, we deal with troubled youth that’s been neglected, abandonment, sexually abused, we deal with those issues. Um, we deal with the ages...(crowd cheers)...and we deal with, um, teenagers. Um, what we have here and, uh, each one of our students gonna present to the band members, we have a star. And the star say “You are a star in our lives.” They have definitely made a difference for these young people, thank you.
Iha: Thank you very much. And now, the check presentation to Elon Homes, a check for a $103,240. Thanks a lot. You guys have been great.
1979
BC: Thank you. Thank you all so very much for a great evening. Heh heh heh heh. Heh. This next song, if you want to hear, it’s about 25 minutes long, so uh...I guess we’ll ask you. You sure you want to hear a 25 minute song? I don’t know.... I see a lot of people shaking their head no. Uhhhh... Um, especially tonight, we’ll do the 23 minute version.
