BC: Thank you.
Tear
BC: Thank you, thank you all very much, thank you. Thank you very much for coming to share this special evening with us to benefit the SOS...Foundation? Heh heh heh, outreach movement? We’d like to --
Iha: Street Outreach crew.
BC: As you know, it’s a show for charity tonight and uh.... (large crowd cheer) We appreciate you paying that little bit of extra money to make this possible tonight so that we could raise a lot of money for this charity, it’s a fantastic charity. ... Heh heh heh. Heh heh heh. So we send this uh, this next one out to all of you. We hope you enjoy the rest of the concert, enjoy your life in the universe, planet. Heh heh.
Tonight, Tonight (acoustic)
Once Upon a Time (Billy solo acoustic)
BC: Thanks. We’d like to do an old song for you. Hope you like it.
Stumbleine (acoustic)
> drum/percussion solo
> Where Boys Fear to Tread (tease)
> Bullet with Butterfly Wings
> Shame
For Martha
BC: God bless you, thank you.
[encore break]
Iha: Thank you very much, thank you very much, you guys have been very great tonight. We’d like to do a presentation...to the Street Outreach people and we have the money right here.
Lady from charity: I want you to know...that I don’t need a mic. I wanna thank you all but I wanna thank three of the nicest and most wonderfully [unintelligible word or two]. (long loud cheer) I’m the director, I’m the director of Street Outreach Services. We work with young people who are on the streets and involved in prostitution and what our job is, basically, is to help them reach their potential and get off of the streets. It’s pee - (interrupted by large cheer). As I said earlier today, not only do I have a new band that I’m in love with...(pause for loud cheer)...and not only will their music resonate for me for a long time but the donation they have made goes far beyond touching my heart and touching the souls of many. Thank you.
BC: Okay, now, (imitates drum roll), we’d like to present you with a check for one hundred and twenty-six thousand dollars...and 37 cents.
Iha: So, that was where your money went tonight and it’s a, it’s a really great cause. We visited there today, they’re all really great people. And now, it’s time to rock.
Thru the Eyes of Ruby
BC: We normally uh, quit around somewhere around here but um, we feel a lotta love towards you if that’s the way to put it, heh heh heh. We appreciate your support and uh, your attention and respect and devotion means a lot to us so if you don’t mind, we’re gonna play a little longer than we normally do. Don’t want anyone - and I don’t want anyone coming up to me like in two years going, “Dude, I was at that show at Massey Hall and you know, it was really good up until that one point and then you just kept going.” I don’t wanna hear any of that.
Iha: [two unintelligible words]
BC: Can you handle it?
Iha: We’re gonna play, we’re gonna play some Cream songs now. No reaction. I said we’re gonna play some Cream songs now so...gonna go back to 1968.
Sunshine of Your Love (tease - Billy plays the riff and the band jams for a minute)
(Iha: (screams) Come on, you fuckin’ people, get on your feet! Oh, you’re already on your feet! I’m sorry. “...where I’m going in the sunshine of your looove.” (Iha solos))
Iha: Alright. Very sorry.
BC: That’s just a, that’s a little glimpse of what you’re in for, so you may want to leave now before it gets extremely ugly because we’ve spent a good 90 minutes constructing an oral sculpture of...you know, some levity and grace and beauty and now we’re going to destroy it in one fell swoop.
1979 (abandoned after 20 seconds when Aronoff messes up the intro)
BC: Are we gonna have to fire you in Canada too?
Iha: Alright. (laughing a little) This just shows how terrible we are when we try to be spontaneous.
1979
> Summertime (tease)
> Blank Page
BC: Thank you, goodnight. God bless you.
[encore break]
Sunshine of Your Love (tease - Iha plays close to the entire riff once)
BC: Yeah. Like to take a quick second to introduce the band to you, y’all. On the pianer...Mike from Prague, Czechoslovakia, Mike...
Iha: Garson!
BC: ...Garshomski! On percussion left, from the former Soviet Union, Stephen Igor! On percussion right, from Los Angeles, California, Ice-T. And the man in the middle...six eleven, from Indiana State, Kenny Aronoff. To my right, heh heh, you know him, you love him, his name...Jack the Ripper. And to my left...six seven, from North Carolina, Michael Jordan!
Iha: Ladies and gentlemen, the man in the middle, on lead vocals, Jacques Cousteau.
BC: Oui oui, monsieur.
Iha: Thank you very much. We would like to embark on one last space mission. Are you ready to return with us to space? Let’s go.
