Banter[edit | edit source]

Iha: Good evening.
To Sheila
> Behold! The Night Mare
> Pug
> Crestfallen
> Ava Adore
BC: (growly voice) Thank you.
Once Upon a Time
> Tear
BC: Thank you very much, thank you, thank you. It’s nice to be back here, you know, we recorded most of our album here in Los Angeles, so.... Of course this lovely city provides the seedy backdrop for the darkness that is Adore. The most misunderstood album since Gish. But thank you very much for coming, as you know it’s a charity concert tonight, so uh...we only get paid in ice cream, but it’s cool.
Appels + Oranjes (partial)
> Daphne Descends
BC: This next song, I don’t really know the words, so, heh, this is our CD in case you haven’t gotten it. We’re trying to do the whole album, so.... We played this song last night in San Francisco but of course it sucked, so it’ll be good tonight. This is Annie-Dog.
Annie-Dog
BC: Thank you, heh. I'm practicing for Vegas. So we'd like to play an old song now.
Zero (tease - first 3 notes) (acoustic)
BC: Yes. We’d like to dedicate this song to all of you for coming to be with us tonight. This is Tonight, Tonight.
Tonight Tonight (acoustic)
Iha: How is everyone doing? Is everyone feeling groovy? Good. I have to ask this.
Perfect (acoustic)
The Tale of Dusty and Pistol Pete (acoustic)
drum/percussion solo
> Zero (tease)
> Bullet with Butterfly Wings
> Shame
BC: Thank you.
For Martha
(BC at 9:29: God bless you, thank you. We are the Smashing Pumpkins, thank you very much for coming. Thank you for the bliss.)
[encore break]
Iha: Grazie, thank you very much. You guys have been rockin'. I always thought L.A. was jaded but you people are not jaded tonight and we appreciate that.
BC: Thank you very much, thank you. Ready there, James?
Iha: Let's go back, yeah, heh. I was gonna do this really bad introduction but I won't, I'll just spare you, this is 1979!
1979
Summertime (tease)
> Blank Page
Iha: Thank you.
BC: This is usually where we stop the show and (blows kiss) say goodnight but you guys are so amazing. We'd like to play one more song if that's cool. Then I'm too tired and...plus there’s this uh, famous friend of mine, he just won some championship of some league and he's complaining that we're not playing loud enough for him. So this is for, heh, this is, heh heh, for my friend. The Lakers didn't win the championship, did they? I didn’t think so. That was that team that wore red and yeah, black. That team from Chicago, that’s it. You’re sure you can handle the metal now, ‘cause it’s gonna get a little heavy for you. Okay, after this there’ll be no more speeches, so (blows kiss), god bless you, thank you. Thanks for staying, I love you all.
Transmission / Let’s Dance / Star Spangled Banner
(BC at 11:48: Well, if it is the end of the world, it’s been nice to know you all. I just hope I’m there with David Duchovny when it all goes down. So we thank you for a great concert, we bid you adieu, (blows kiss). Yeah, I said no more speeches, sorry. But thank you. Like to introduce the band. On pianer...from Venus, Michel Garçon. On percussion left, yes, he’s from Canoga Park, his name is Stephen. On percussion right, Dan Newt Gingrich. On the guitar, the one, the only, Let It Come Down, James Iha. (Iha briefly solos) Go, man, go. That was perfect. Oh no, you want me to introduce him? It’s my twin brother, on the drums, Kenny Corgan. On the C bass, all the way from Kawasaki, Japan, it’s...uh, heh heh heh...yes, it’s Satan, Satan, Lord Satan. So uh, heh...we’ll see you again down the road. Be safe, be cool. We’d now like to leave you with the hammer of the gods.)
