Iha: Thank you! Thank you very much. How is everybody doing out here? Reasonably well? Ah yes, you’re rockin’, alright. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a special guest. All the way from the oh so great state of Milwaukee. Milwaukee, Wisconsin, yes, Jimmy Frog! Alright, obviously no one cares. Jimmy Frog! Oh ho! Let’s have a hand for Jimmy fuckin’ Frog. Alright, we’ll move on. Oh, this is by the way our entertainment portion of our set, when the music fails, we resort to cheap props. Yes. Alright. Ladies--ladies and gentlemen, on the keyboards, his brother, Dennis Frog! Dennis--Dennis is a practicing Zen master, he is a black belt, he’s also a law student at Harvard, he’s come out to play keyboards for us and it’s--he’s just been a hell of a guy. Okay, enough of that keyboard stuff. Alright, and now the moment you’ve been waiting for. Matting the drums...you know, now is the drums, you know, whatever you wanna call ‘em. Mr. Matt “Cosmo” Walker! Yes, he’s a--he’s left Filter and he’s also left Eric Clapton’s touring band to come play with us, so we approve of him.
BC: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to what is possibly the most shocking and horrifying part of the show. Yes, it’s audience participation time.
Iha: Come on down! We’re crazy.
BC: Just to let you know what’s gon abou--what’s about to happen, for those of you who don’t have any feelings, Jimmy is about to go into the audience and pick some dancers for tonight’s song.
Iha: Yes.
BC: Jimmy!
Iha: Pick two.
BC: Please pick tonight’s dancers.
(Matt starts a tribal beat and Dennis joins in eventually)
BC: Heeey, bustin’ out, Desi.
Iha: Unh. Yeah, yeah, you’re playin’ fuckin’ Goldie, mofo.
BC: Ooh! Babalú!
Jimmy Frog?: Fuckin’ dumb boy, you fuckin’ bad motherfucker.
Iha: Yeah!
BC: Babalú.
Iha: Which one? Pick a gold, pickin’ the dancers, careful. On their fuckin’ knee, you fuckin’ pathetic Houston people, come on!!
BC: Got a little off map.
Iha: Get up on your fuckin’ feet!
BC: Heh. Got some Miami Sound Machine goin’.
(Matt slows down the beat a little)
BC: Hey...I know that dude.
Iha: Matt, Matt, come on, turn up the BPMs, fuck.
BC: Yes, who shall dance...tonight...tonight?
Iha: Oh so bright. (starts hooting like an owl)
BC: As you can see, Jimmy is whipping the crowd into a frenzy.
Iha: Yes.
BC: Jimmy! (beat stops) Jimmy! JIMMY! Jimmy Flemion.
Iha: Oh boy.
BC: Uh, heh.
Iha: You got one of those.
BC: All hell has broken loose.
Iha: Well, you, uh.... Yeah, let’s....
BC: Alright, let’s take a moment to get to know tonight’s dancers. Oh, we’ll start with you.
Girl #1: (off mic) Yeah, what’s up?
BC: What is your name and where are you from?
Girl #1: Crystal, I’m from Alvin...Houston, Texas!
Iha: What?
BC: You’re from where? That’s not what you said.
Girl #1: (dejected) Alright, I’m from Alvin. (crowd boos)
Iha: Oh. Ladies and gentlemen, this is shocking.
Guy #1: Kelly Jones, Clear Lake, Texas!!
Iha: Well, you get a [unintelligible] on stage and that’s what happens.
Girl #2: Julie from Houston.
Girl #3: Angel from Houston.
Girl #4: Brandy from Houston.
Guy #2: Ted Kaczynski.
BC: Oh, I get it, you’re the Unabomber.
Iha: Alright.
BC: Don’t you understand, we’re the only ones who are allowed to make jokes on this stage. That’s the way it works. Okay, I can tell you’re all really enthused about this part of the show. Now, normally when we do this some nights, a lot of the--somehow, Jimmy always seems to pick people who aren’t from where we’re playing, but tonight we have a lot of Houstonites on the chorus line. So I’ll say it this way, if this song sucks, it is their fault. James, please tell everyone the rules for tonight.
Iha: Yes, dancers, listen up to me. Two special rules for being on stage with the rock band. First rule: do not touch us, second rule: do not touch our shit. So if you adhere to these rules and dance the boogaloo or whatever dance you wanna do, we’ll be rockin’. And for those of you off stage, I encourage you to dance with us on stage but do it in the mind. Yes, the power of the mind is rather a great one, Albert Einstein proved that, perhaps as plenty of you people know.
BC: I--I have a feeling many people...I have a feeling a lot of these people are imagining in their mind that they would just like the show to continue at this point.
Iha: Alright, well just, just dance, that’s all I ask.
1979 (with Jimmy Flemion)
Iha: Well, I always sort of wonder about the dancing portion of our show, but let’s have a nice warm round of applause for our dancers tonight, they tried valiantly. There was no [unintelligible word] from the bunch but we will continue rocking on for you.
BC: This is our last song, so thank you very much for coming, again, for the 18th time. I know I sound like a broken record but we’re very thankful that you’re here and thankful that you stayed ‘til the end of the show. Thank you very much.
